The beautiful town of Vail, Colorado comes to life during the holidays. It’s impossible to not get in the spirit with the pine garland, red bows and string lights that decorate the town and bring about holiday cheer. They don’t just stick to decoration, either. Vail Holidaze adds to the Yuletide cheer with many activities and events from December 18th through the 31st. Grab the family and hop on our Vail airport shuttle to celebrate the holidays in this lovely mountain town!

The Vail Holidaze kicks off with a Tree Lighting Ceremony in Slifer Plaza, next to the Covered Bridge in Vail Village. The beautiful event is complete with a starry night sky and snow-capped mountains as the backdrop to make it a truly memorable experience. The day after the Tree Lighting Ceremony, the Candy Cane Patrol begin to appear at the Golden Peak, Vista Bahn, and Lionshead base areas. Made up of Vail’s Holidaze helpers, the Candy Cane Patrollers are dressed in red and green and hand out treats for those that need a sweet pick-me-up before their next lap down the mountain. When you’ve decided to end your day of carving up the mountain, see what the Family Movie Nights are all about at the Lionshead Information Center. Family Movie Nights at Vail Holidaze features oldies like Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer, Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Free event stations called the Kids Zone are found in Vail Village and Lionshead, offering ornament making, snowman decorating, the Vail Arctic Express train rides, Santa’s Workshop, entertainers and more!

If you’re dining in Vail between December 20th and Christmas Day, don’t be surprised if the Dickens Carolers grace your restaurant with festive hymns. The night of Christmas Day you’ll find the Dickens Carolers at Golden Peak, Vail Village, and Lionshead base areas for a final performance. Between December 20th – 22nd, before the lifts close for the day, visit the Arrabelle Square or Solaris Plaza Rink with your child and their ice skate rentals for the opportunity to join figure skating stars on the rink! When the kids are tired, pull them off the rink and grab a hot cocoa to sip on while you watch famous figure skaters perform “Winter Solstice on Ice”. After spending a few days on the mountain burning off the calories from Christmas dinner, grab a complimentary ride on the gondola in Lionshead for the First Night Party at Adventure Ridge! Discounted activities and dinner packages are also available. When you’ve tired out the kids for the night and the babysitter has arrived, head over to the Dobson Ice Arena for Vail NYE 2016 to ring in the new year! Vail Holidaze is genuinely like nothing on Earth.
