Summit County weather conditions can change rapidly. Whether you’re on the roads or on the slopes at the time, you’ll want to be prepared. Breckenridge is at an elevation of 9,600 feet, which means that Breckenridge weather is prone to mountain conditions and changes. This means it may be warm and sunny one minute and snowing the next. But this is why we love living in the mountains!

For outdoor activities, wear and bring layers so that you can adjust to fluctuating temperatures and your own body heat from your activity. Synthetic layers are best as they dry easily and wick moisture away from your skin. Cotton will keep your skin wet and cold, so avoid it as much as possible. Always have sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and gloves.

Driving through mountain weather conditions such as a snowstorm can be challenging and scary. At Peak 1 Express, we understand this because we drive airport shuttles daily between DEN and Breckenridge and all of Summit County. If you’re on the road and a storm hits, try to drive slowly but not so slow you create a traffic issue. If you’re in a 4WD vehicle, do not assume it will be invincible! In Summit County, the people we see off the road most often are in 4WD vehicles. When in doubt, find a safe place to pull off the road and wait out the toughest conditions.
