About the Mechanic Position

The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and supporting the Peak 1 Express fleet. You will complete routine and preventive maintenance, respond to vehicle issues, and ensure our fleet meets DOT and company safety standards. This role is ideal for someone who is thorough, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and alongside our drivers.

JOB DUTIES

• Address and troubleshoot all vehicle maintenance concerns
• Perform preventive maintenance, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations and changes, wheel balancing, and filter replacements
• Maintain shop equipment by following operating instructions, resolving breakdowns, and coordinating repairs
• Manage shop inventory by tracking supplies, placing orders, and verifying deliveries
• Track and file all paperwork required for DOT compliance, including vehicle condition records and driver logs
• Assist drivers with maintenance questions or safety concerns
• Conduct weekly walkthroughs and inspections of all vehicles
• Sign off on completed vehicle inspections

REQUIREMENTS

• Basic diesel maintenance skills preferred
• Knowledge of DOT regulations
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass a drug screening
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe operations
