Over the long Colorado summers there is a plethora of fun, high adrenaline activities readily available to everyone. Some of the most popular activities over summer include whitewater rafting, mountain biking, ziplining and kayaking. Mountain biking is one of the most popular activities in the mountains of Colorado and offers some of the best terrain in the world. One of the best and most diverse locations for mountain biking is Eagle, Colorado, which offers everything from beginner to highly advanced mountain biking all in the same area.
Eagle, Colorado is located right in between Glenwood Springs and Vail (approximately 30 mins from each). Eagle, Colorado offers over twenty different world class trails broken down into three main sections: Down-Valley, Mid-Valley, and Up-Valley. The most popular trails in the area are Radio Flyer, Eagle Ranch Loops and Two Elk. There are also commercial trails available at Beaver Creek and Vail ski areas for those interested in saving your legs and taking the lifts back up for your next lap. Biking season in that area starts as early as April and ends sometime in late October, giving you a chance to ride them all. If you are looking for a riding club in the area, Vail Valley Mountain Bike Association and Hardscrabble Trails Coalition are great organizations that promote trail safety and cleanliness. If you were interested in some biking events in the area to either partake in or spectate, you will want to be in Eagle on May 15th-17th for the Eagle Outside Festival.
Colorado offers a variety of different terrains ranging from high alpine where you are above the timberline to desert riding where you are more likely to see cacti before you see another rider. While visiting Eagle, CO you may want to try out some whitewater rafting with AVA on the class II and III Lower Eagle trip or class V Dowd Chute trip and then end your off day with a cold beverage and steak at The Dusty Boot Steak and Saloon. Regardless of which areas you ride in Eagle, CO, you are bound to have an all-around amazing experience on amazing trails.
