One of the largest cycling events, the USA Pro Challenge, is coming in hot for 2014. The USA Pro Challenge, often referred to as “America’s Race,” will take place August 18th to the 24th. For a week straight some of the world’s best athletes will be peddling through the beautiful Colorado Rockies. Starting in Aspen, going through Crested Butte, down to Gunnison, then across to Colorado Springs, all the way to Breckenridge, continuing into Vail, then ultimately making their way to the Front Range in Boulder and ending in Denver, this are tons of spots to view the athletes while they race to the finish for first place.
August 22nd, the streets of Breckenridge will be lined with spectators eagerly waiting the arrival of these athletes. A seven stage cycling course, with stage five starting in Woodland Park and then heading north through some of the most picturesque terrain in Colorado. Running through the Pike National Forest, these fine cyclists will grace the newly paved Tarryall Rd with their displays of athleticism. However, the action really starts once the cyclists come into Fairplay, where the long trek up to Hoosier Pass begins, sitting at 11,500ft in elevation, the highest point in the race. Once the athletes pass this point they finish up at Moonstone Rd.
With all this excitement lining the streets of Breckenridge it will be easy to view the excitement. However, getting around town may be a little frustrating. If you are traveling into the mountains during this week you may want to consider hitching a ride with our mountain shuttle in one of our Mercedes Sprinters to ensure a smooth arrival.
