During the Snow Sculpture Championships, 16 teams from around the world hand-carve 25-ton blocks of snow into enormous, intricate works of art. Artists are only allowed to use hand tools, creativity and inspiration to bring their visions to life. Teams will work roughly 96 hours over a five-day period. This results in a massive outdoor art gallery in downtown Breckenridge!

2019 teams include

  • China
  • Ecuador
  • France
  • Germany
  • Great Britain
  • India
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Mexico
  • Mongolia
  • 2 teams from the USA

Location

The Snow Sculptures are located around the Riverwalk Center at 150 West Adams Ave in Breckenridge. Each intricate carving is sculpted into a statue which glows from dusk to dawn every day of the viewing weekend.

Inside the Riverwalk Center, known as the Thaw Lounge + Music, discover the process of snow sculpting, information about the teams and sculpting trivia that you will wow your friends with. Within the Thaw Lounge, explore the last 28 years of the International Snow Sculpture Championships.

Best ways to get to the Snow Sculpture Championship

The biggest challenge to this event for visitors is access. There are several options available to arrive at the epi-center of the event. Obviously, the best way to avoid the traffic in and out of town is to visit gobreck.com and book your stay in Breckenridge!

If you are driving, then here are some tips:

  1. Private charters may utilize the F-Lot Transit Center to drop off and pick up guests (closest paid parking lot to the event)
  2. Buses will be directed to park in the satellite/free skier parking off
  3. Free public transportation is also available throughout the town from 6:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m., provided by the Breckenridge Free Ride.
  4. Free parking is available at the CMC lot off of Highway 9 and free transportation to the event will be provided from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Don’t let the parking keep you from missing this incredible event. The Annual Snow Sculpture Championships will blow you away. The sculptors work countless hours to fight for the championship. Check out some of our favorite photos from previous years!
