DIA is Colorado’s major international airport serving the Denver metropolitan area.
It’s one of the busiest airports in the United States and your gateway to the Rocky Mountains and beyond
After exiting your plane, follow signs for baggage claim and ground transportation. When you arrive in the main terminal, head to Terminal East.
Exit Terminal East through the doors labeled 513, next to Baggage Claim 7.
Your Peak 1 Express shuttle will pickup on Island 1, next to the Mountain Carrier sign.
In general, we recommend allowing 90 minutes to make it to your gate at Denver International Airport, more if you are catching an international flight. Below are some tips and tricks to make your travel experience as smooth as possible.
To find Passenger Pick-up, take the escalators or elevators from baggage claim to the Passenger Pick-up floor.
To find your Peak 1 Express shuttle, use exit 513 on the east side of the main terminal. Your shuttle will be located at Island 1, beneath the sign labeled Mountain Carriers.
If you print your ticket prior to arriving at the airport, you may simply walk in through either the east or west side of the terminal and head straight to security. This will cut down on the time it takes to navigate DEN. If you forget your ticket, you may always locate the easy to use kiosks that usually sit near the designated carrier.
If you are traveling with a few bags, you will want to check which side of the terminal your airline’s check-in desk is located on. It is always highly recommended to plan for additional travel time if you do plan to have checked baggage, and to allow for more time if you have a large group with multiple bags.
Denver International Airport provides estimated security checkpoint times on their website, but it never hurts to allow a little extra time. Here are a few helpful things to remember when going through security:
Denver International Airport has three concourses from which all flights depart: Concourse A, Concourse B, and Concourse C. After passing through security you will head down the escalator to the famous Denver International Airport train which will quickly take you to your concourse.
As you exit your plane, follow the signs to the baggage claim in the main terminal. In most cases, you will need to board the train that runs between concourses to get to the baggage claim.
Looking to explore the majestic Colorado Rocky Mountains? Ski at one of Colorado’s major resorts? Or just be able to breathe in the fresh mountain air? With its expansive 53 square miles, Denver International Airport (DEN) is the second largest airport in the world and provides access to Colorado’s best activities. If you are looking for convenient and cost-effective flights, be sure to look into flying with one of the many carriers who service Denver International Airport. Located just off of Interstate 70, DEN offers convenient access to most of the major resort towns in Colorado, with Shared Shuttle services offering a reliable alternative to driving this busy highway.
Denver International Airport boasts three concourses and 6 runways, so rest assured, offering plenty of flight options no matter where you are traveling from. This busy airport; however, hosts concourses laid out in such a way that navigating them is quick and simple. Denver International Airport was also voted Best Airport In America 6 years in a row by Business Traveler Magazine from the years 2005-2010.
If you are arriving at the airport, our mountain shuttle drivers will be waiting for you in the pick-up area with a big smile and helping hand. You can then sit back and relax, as we take you up into the mountains. And if you are on your way out of our beautiful state, our drivers will make sure to get you to the terminal with plenty of time before your flight.
Whether you will be flying to or from Denver International Airport, you will have many amenities to aid you in an enjoyable and stress-free flight. Be sure to check out one of the many restaurants – they are the perfect way to avoid airplane food! If you are going to the A gates, stop by the New Belgium Spoke, offering great sandwich options, salads and wraps. Many of these items are packaged for the on-the-go traveler. If you are flying into the B gates, Heidi’s Deli will be sure to satisfy your hunger with a nice array of sandwiches. And for those traveling to the C gates, be sure to stop into Rock Bottom Brewery, hosting a variety of meals to choose from plus a top notch list of microbrews. If you are seeking a quick pick-me-up, there are many coffee spots, as well as airport bars that are open regularly.
Most people don’t think of artwork when they plan their flights, but DEN practically doubles as an art museum. As you travel through the airport, take notice of some of the intriguing works that are on display throughout the main terminal and concourses. You may find yourself looking at the one of the many murals, such as “The Children of the World Dream of Peace,” by Leo Tanguma. Or if you pay attention as you are walking you may see some Navajo terms for geographical sites inscribed in the floor that reflect Colorado’s ancient past. There is also the awe-inspiring Beaded Circle Crossing located in the B concourse that will make any traveler stop to appreciate it’s beauty.
From the outside, DEN stands out with it’s unique roof, meant to invoke the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains. In addition to the artistry, the roof is also a feat of engineering, made of teflon fiberglass as as thin as a credit card!
A sculpture of a blue mustang guards the entrance to the airport, with its backstory making for a great read for any traveler waiting to board their flight.
