Our Favorite Runs at Breckenridge

Breckenridge’s first day running was December 16, 1961, and the world class resort has had many accomplishments since. The world’s first high speed detachable quad chairlift was installed in 1981, being named the Quicksilver Chairlift – a lift still running at Breckenridge to this day.  Breckenridge has all terrain from beginner to expert skiers and riders, and even the perfect spot for Grandma to sit near the fire and watch you come down the slopes. If you have never skied before, Breckenridge offer’s private and group lessons for all ages. Take a look at these ski runs that Breckenridge Resort has to offer and get out on the hill!

Beginner

Hitting the slopes for your very first time? The magic carpet is going to be the best place to start out. On Peak 8, right off of the gondola, you can walk directly to the carpet and hop on to try out your turns. Going from the magic carpet, they also have beginner chairlifts that give you a little steeper area to practice and perfect your “S” turns. Rip’s Ride is the lift that services Trygve’s, named after Trygve Berge who help design the Breckenridge Ski Resort, and who also was the first ski school director. This trail is very gentle all the way down to get your legs warmed up and perfect the basics of skiing and snowboarding.

Intermediate

If you’ve gotten down your twists and turns, it’s time to move on to the green runs.  These are going to be the best crusiers before upgrading into blues. Crescendo is a crowd favorite blue run on the front side of the mountain. From the Colorado Chair, a short way down Springmeier, Crescendo typically has bumps that form on the skier’s left, and does not have bumps and may even be groomed on the skier’s right. You can check out the conditions from the top of the run, and still have the options to continue on Springmeier.

Expert

Peak 9 and Peak 6 hold the best double black trails on Breckenridge. The Windows on Peak 9 are a series of tight trees runs accessed at the top of E-Chair. The Beyond located on Peak 6, is new to the resort as of last year. The wide open views on these slopes with leave you picking your jaw up off the snowy floor. One Peak 8, the main peak at Breckenridge, is Pika.  If you want to get high up on the mountain, head this way.  Along with Pika is Little Johnny’s, a natural gully which creates a half pipe feeling along some bumps.  These all make for great trails for skilled skiers and riders.

Take these tips and head out on the mountain to get some turns in.  Snow is falling in Breckenridge this very second, and hopefully more trails will open this weekend to give some variety to our beloved ski resort!  In need of transportation from the front range?
