The Vail Film Festival’s mission is aligned with that of the Colorado Film Institute’s so as to promote independent films through film screenings, panels, workshops, networking events, and educational projects. The Vail Film Festival (VFF) is the sister festival of the Los Cabos International Film Festival, also founded by Scott Cross, and first started in Vail in April 2004. The 13th annual Vail Film Festival kicks off this year April 7-10th featuring documentaries, student films, and shorts. In the past the film festival has drawn over 10,000 people along with international celebrities and filmmakers so get your cameras ready and come out for a bash!
The schedule starts with opening night on April 7th at The Cascade in Vail with the first film to premiere at 7:30 pm. The opening night party will start at 9:30 pm, right after the film premiere, at the Lodge at Vail. Opening night parties in the past have included flame throwers and music so this years party is sure to be on to remember. Get a good night of rest for Friday’s and Saturday’s activities starting with 11 am film screenings at The Cascade and Cinebistro which will run well into the evening. Take a break between movies for the Virtual Reality Tent at Slifer Square, open from noon to 5 pm. The Vail Film Festival will have its own Festival Hospitality Lounge at The Cascade and will be accessible from noon to 6 pm. To celebrate another successful day of the Vail Film Festival the Friday Night Shakedown will start the party at The Shakedown Bar at 7 pm. The Film Festival will conclude on Saturday with the Awards Ceremony at The Cascade at 7 pm followed by the Closing Night Film at 7:30 pm. Finally, the Lodge at Vail will host the Closing Night Party at 9:30 pm. Film screenings will continue into Sunday along with the Virtual Reality Tent and Festival Hospitality Lounge starting off at the same times as Friday and Saturday.
