Planning a Colorado mountain getaway is an exciting and fruitful endeavor but it can also be incredibly daunting and frustrating. Often, people don’t know how to coordinate travel arrangements in Colorado as they may have never been to the area. Fortunately, we are here to help and hopefully our expertise will come in handy! Below are some basic suggestions and recommendations for planning your Breckenridge and Colorado adventure.
Plan Ahead
In order to help prevent all the unnecessary hiccups that could arise in your travel plans, it is best to get some of your known needs out of the way beforehand. For example, if flying into Denver, it is best to secure your local transportation at least three weeks in advance. This will ensure you the largest options for rental cars or shuttle times to choose from. This allows for more flexibility with your tight travel schedule (and more time spent on the slopes!). It is also a very good idea to book an earlier departing shuttle in order to avoid missing your flight due to heavy returning resort traffic, which is especially high on the weekends. In addition to reserving these services, it is also a good idea to book your lodging at least two weeks in advance; activities at least one week in advance. One more thing to consider is that most Airport shuttle services to Summit County end service around 11pm, with the exception of Peak 1 Express, which has the latest shuttle from the Airport at 11:15pm but, earlier flights are strongly encouraged.
Create an Itinerary
When traveling, it is often recommended to have an itinerary to follow in order keep you and your travel companions or family on time and at the right locations. A good itinerary should contain all flight arrival and departure times, flight information for others on different airlines whom you would be meeting up with, rental car service locations, shuttle service pickup and drop off locations, all confirmation numbers, restaurant reservations and lodging addresses with check in/out times.
Transportation Preferences
For most travelers, it is perfectly acceptable to reserve transportation on shared shuttles as this is the typical means of transportation. However, for some, a more personalized service, such as a rental car or a private charter shuttle service is preferred. When renting a car, be prepared to encounter variable road and weather conditions such as blowing snow, snow packed roads, low visibility, traffic, and mountainous roads. This is why we recommend one of our many service offerings so you don’t have to be concerned with such things.
Although no one can promise a perfectly flawless travel experience, these tips will definitely help to make your travel more hassle free!
