Copper Mountain is known as Colorado’s “local” mountain, where those looking to get away from the crowds while still skiing and snowboarding on some of the best snow in the world. Situated between the Sky Chutes and Vail, Copper Mountain boasts naturally divided terrain of greens, blues, and blacks along with fun back bowls and a world class terrain park. If you find yourself shredding some of the 2,465 acres Copper Mountain, ColoradoCopper Mountain has to offer stop into one of the many restaurants to warm up the chilly bones. We’ve taken care of all the hard work, hit up all the food joints at Copper Mountain, and have compiled our list of favorites…

Casa Sanchez. This restaurant is owned by local’s and features ginormous margarita and authentic Mexican food. Try not to scarf down all of the chips and homemade green chile salsa that are brought to your table while you wait for entrees because the pork mole, chili rellano, and carnitas will leave you with a satisfied belly and so warmed up you’ll be ready to get back out into the powder! Find them in Center Village, a short walk from American Eagle Lift and the Center Village bus stop.

Mountain Melt. Does your mouth water with the prospect of gooey, cheesy mac n cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches? This little restaurant offers creative, even gourmet, affordable comfort food along with beer and soda choices. Grab a brownie or cookie to stash in your ski jacket for when your powder legs need a sweet treat. Find them at the base of American Eagle lift.

JJ’s Tavern. If you need a break from the blacks, mogul runs, and gnarly rock drops forgo hopping back onto Super Bee Lift and head into JJ’s Tavern. This tavern has a rustic feel with most patrons if not knowing what they’re doing on the mountain, certainly look like it. Enjoy happy hour between 3 pm and 6 pm with beer, wine, shots, discounted appetizers, and the best smoked meats (smoked upstairs!) that side of the mountain. Live local music is common so rest the legs, unwind, and enjoy the ambience. Find them at the bottom of Super Bee Lift.
