Prost! Prost! Prost! That’s right, it’s time to search through your attic and find for your grandparents lederhosen and/or dirndl because Oktoberfest is right around the corner. From September 13th-September 15th, Breckenridge, Colorado will host its 19th Annual Oktoberfest that will transform Main St. into a bustling celebration.
It all starts on Friday from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The kickoff to Oktoberfest begins with live music, food, and of course, some good old fashion beer.
The second day of this German beer festival is arguably the best day to come and experience the true Oktoberfest atmosphere. This mountain celebration starts with a Colorado favorite, a 5K Trail Run. If you’re an avid runner, but would also like to celebrate Oktoberfest, make sure to sign up for this race. Put on by the Town of Breckenridge, enjoy a beautiful trail run through the hills of Breck before heading down to Main St. for plenty of beer. If you’re skeptical about drinking beer after working out, don’t despair. One to two beers after working out has proven to hydrate athletes by replenishing some needed carbohydrates.
Oktoberfest wraps up on Sunday, September 15th with another full day of fun. Music will still be playing, food will be cooking, and the beer will of course still be pouring. Be
advised that if you wait until Sunday to receive a 2013 stein, they might be out of stock. You can pre order steins online or make sure to get yours Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.
