Summit County has been historically known for its amazing summers and it’s even more amazing winters.  With the consistently beautiful summer weather and with an average 300 inches of annual snowfall it is easy to see why Summit County is popular in the winter and summer months.  While September in Summit is usually looked over, there is still plenty to do during the changing of the seasons.

Rock ‘n Road Challenge – Do you fancy yourself a bicycle enthusiast? Does it not matter whether you are racing downtown on your road bike or flying down some trails on your mountain bike?  If you answered yes to one or both of these then the Rock ‘n Road Challenge is for you.  This two day bike event brings everything awesome about biking together in one place.  The first day you will enjoy an adrenaline filled mountain bike race followed by a 70 mile Gran Fondo road ride.  Gran Fondo means that riders will have the option to be timed or ride for fun.  Cash prizes will be awarded and each rider receives a swag bag that includes FREE BEER! Sign up for one or both rides happening Sept 7th-8th.

Breckenridge Oktoberfest It seems like every town in the States has their own rendition of Oktoberfest.  While most associate it with drinking, and there is drinking, it is a celebration of everything that is great about German culture and tradition.   From September 13th to the 15th the town of Breckenridge will be hosting its own Oktoberfest that you should not miss.  Breck has been throwing the Rocky Mountains biggest Oktoberfest for 18 years.  Dust off your lederhosen and Birkenstocks and come check out Oktoberfest in Breckenridge.

Breckenridge Festival of Film This year marks the 33rd anniversary of the Breckenridge Festival of Film.  This year the film festival has moved from June to September 19th-22nd.  The Breckenridge Festival of Film is a huge independent film gathering similar to the critically acclaimed Sundance Film Festival.  On top of that, renowned film critics will be hosting this year’s festival.  But they are not the only celebrities that will be in town. Past guests have included Alan Arkin, James Earl Jones, and an underground favorite, Lou Diamond Phillips.  It is also rumored that Danny Glover has a film in the festival that will be showcased in Breckenridge.  Come check out some of the best films that you have never heard of at this year’s Breckenridge Festival of Film with us at Peak 1 Express!
