Summit County has been historically known for its amazing summers and it’s even more amazing winters. Breckenridge Oktoberfest– It seems like every town in the States has their own rendition of Oktoberfest. While most associate it with drinking, and there is drinking, it is a celebration of everything that is great about German culture and tradition. From September 13th to the 15th the town of Breckenridge will be hosting its own Oktoberfest that you should not miss. Breck has been throwing the Rocky Mountains biggest Oktoberfest for 18 years. Breckenridge Festival of Film– This year marks the 33rd anniversary of the Breckenridge Festival of Film. This year the film festival has moved from June to September 19th-22nd. The Breckenridge Festival of Film is a huge independent film gathering similar to the critically acclaimed Sundance Film Festival. On top of that, renowned film critics will be hosting this year’s festival. But they are not the only celebrities that will be in town. Past guests have included Alan Arkin, James Earl Jones, and an underground favorite, Lou Diamond Phillips. It is also rumored that Danny Glover has a film in the festival that will be showcased in Breckenridge.
