The days are getting longer and the warm sunshine continues to show it’s rays… that must mean spring is nearly here!  Head to the town of Breckenridge, Colorado this season to enjoy some great activities and events to kick off warmer weather, as well as watch the trees turn into a beautiful sea of green. Many believe as “mud season” approaches, they should avoid mountain towns until spring comes around.  This couldn’t be further from the truth… you’ll get to enjoy the breathtaking Colorado Rocky mountains without a town packed wall to wall.   Here’s why you should consider taking your Breckenridge getaway in the spring.

Plenty of Activities… Not as Many People

Spring Activities in Breckenridge

There are still plenty of activities to indulge in as the ski season nears it’s end such as hiking, ziplining and rafting in some areas.  The perfect time to venture through the backcountry is April and May.  Though you have to be cautious of the potential for snow storms or spring showers, spring brings many blue bird days as well for adventures.

Hiking

Since Breckenridge sits in the middle of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, there are a multitude of hikes near and far from the area.  Just south of town is the popular Mohawk Lakes, though it’s a bit of a trek at over 8 miles round trip.  If you just want to get out in the mountains and catch some views, head up to Sapphire Point on Swan Mountain over the Dillon Reservoir.

Blue Bird Spring Skiing

Breckenridge often has some solid snow storms towards the end of it’s season, and you can also count on plenty of sunny days to explore the ski resort.  With plenty of après-ski spots on 3 of Breckenridge’s 5 peaks, you’ll find yourself soaking up the sunshine after some great laps.
