November is here and with that comes some exciting start of the season events all over the Rockies. Whether you are looking to hit the slopes or enjoy a nice evening with the family, Colorado has an event for you this November.
- World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition
Beaver Creek | November 23rdEach year Beaver Creek Resort hosts this delicious competition. Welcome the start of the season for this resort with homemade chocolate chip cookies from five finalists, one of which who will walk away $1,000 and bragging rights as the Official Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe of Beaver Creek for the 2016/2017 winter season. Spend the morning on the slopes, but make sure you are in the village by 2pm, as the 5,000 cookies tend to be gone after 20 minutes! - Turkey Day 5k
Frisco | November 24thHead to the beautiful town of Frisco to kick off your Thanksgiving morning with the 4th Annual Turkey Day 5k at 9:30am! Get an early start to your day and burn a few calories before the feast begins. This event is open to all ages and will take place on the Summit County Recreation Path and Town of Frisco side streets. All racers are encouraged to make a non-perishable food donation at the event to benefit the Family & Intercultural Resource Center of Summit County. - Opening Day
Various Locations & DatesThe start of ski and snowboard season is one of the big things to look forward to in November. Each resort has their own opening day, which is very dependent on temperature and snowfall. These dates are known to change so make sure you don’t make any hard plans to be at opening day if you will be traveling from out of state. - Welcome Winter Family Carnival
Keystone | November 26thHead to Warren Station in Keystone to welcome winter with a warm, family celebration! This kid-friendly event features carnival favorites like face painting, a bounce house, crafts and more. Treat yourself to a complimentary bag of kettle corn and a tasty cup of hot chocolate. Enjoy the high energy music by Chris Thompson & Coral Creek, playing genre-bending original music and unique renditions of traditional bluegrass tunes and Americana classics. Don’t forget about the mocktails, cocktails, “Welcome Winter” mixers, and beer specials that will make for a perfect, all-ages affair to prelude the Lighting of River Run Village.
