Now that August has almost past and fall colors are beginning to change, so is the atmosphere of the Rocky Mountains. While in the Rockies over September you will notice that all the locals are buzzing, quite literally buzzing. This is from all of the absolutely killer Oktoberfest celebrations happening across the region during the month of September!
Oktoberfest-ivities begin in Beaver Creek, CO on Sept. 3rd and 4th with their annual Bavarian event featuring live music and their 5k and 10k trail race. Once the Beaver Creek event has ended, the season is just beginning as the next festival takes place the following weekend in Vail, CO and will continue into the following weekend, providing great beer and better entertainment for September 9-11 & 16-18. Although the Vail Oktoberfest offers keg bowling, hammerschlagen and numerous stein lifts, it will fall to the backseat to the Rocky Mountains largest and most premier event, the Breckenridge Oktoberfest! Breckenridge’s Oktoberfest takes beer drinking to an extreme with over three dozen vendors, live polka music throughout and the best fall colors one could ask for. This event take place on the 9th –11th and is the 22nd annual festival in Breckenridge, making it one of the most established and prized Oktoberfest’s in Colorado.
For those looking for a safe ride back to their lodging following the event, make sure these plans are made in advance to assure the ride is there once you have completed your afternoon of festivities.
