Martin Luther King weekend is the perfect time to visit Breckenridge. With the ski season at its height, you are sure to have excellent days on the slopes here at Breckenridge Ski Resort, and the long weekend means more time to explore them all. Breckenridge is home to some of the best après ski venues in the country as well as multiple events going on throughout the weekend to keep you thoroughly entertained on and off the slopes. If you’re looking for a beer and a burger after a long day on the slopes, check out the Quandary Grille located at the base of Peak 9. Here you can enjoy a beer while watching your favorite sports events. The Quandary Grille is conveniently located within Main Street Station and can be walked to easily from the bottom of the Quicksilver Super 6 chair on Peak 9 in Breckenridge.

For those looking for some fun and a valuable education, Martin Luther King Weekend holds the Breck Safety week. In conjunction with NSAA safety week, Breckenridge mountain safety personnel will be available to teach skiers and riders about various topics that help keep our slopes safe. Stop by the tent village at the base of Peak 9 to learn about proper helmet fitting as well as various other safety demos and even free hot dogs for hungry guests. After learning proper safety practices at the bottom of the mountain, suit up and head to the top of the Colorado Super Chair for a demo and introduction to the Avalauncher. The Avalauncher is a long range ballistic tool used to fire explosives at the snowpack in order to control avalanches. You will learn how it works, where and when it is used, and even watch a firing demonstration to show how this essential tool helps keep our resort safe for everyone. Immediately following this demonstration, ski patrol will introduce us to the avalanche dogs and teach us about their critical role in mountain safety and operations. Watch an avalanche beacon demonstration and learn how these tools can help save lives in an emergency. For the true outdoors person, this event will provide very useful and interesting information and is sure to be a blast!
