All About Copper Mountain
Copper Mountain, one of the few resorts in Summit and Eagle counties not owned by Vail Resorts, is very popular among locals with it’s top notch slopes. Situated just 8 miles west of Frisco right off of I-70, the mountain is known for it’s world class skiing in the winter and mountain biking and cycling in the summer. This resort even hosted the World Cup skiing tour back in the 1970’s and has been home to the Colorado Cyclist Copper Triangle Alpine Cycling Classic for the past decade.
Copper Mountain has some of the most appetizing dining in Summit County, on top of it being a center for every outdoor activity one can imagine. Double Diamond Bar & Grill, Copper Red Hots, JJ’s Rocky Mountain Tavern, and the Incline Bar & Grill should all be on your list of prospective eateries. One of the only go-kart tracks you’ll be able to find in the high country is housed at Copper, as well as one of Colorado’s largest outdoor climbing walls. For you golfers, there’s an 18-hole course right at the resort. If you prefer frisbee golf, they have a 9-hole course as well! Mountain biking, hiking, off roading, and cruising on a diggler are all activities in the area during the summer. If you’re not aware of what a diggler is, you’re missing out one of the best and most unique outdoor activities. This backcountry scooter is perfect for exploring the mountain in a bit speedier way than by just your own two feet.
Every winter, Copper turns into a magnificent winter wonderland. This five-star ski resort is filled with 140 marked trails spanning across almost 2,500 acres. 50% of the slopes are rated difficult or extremely difficult, therefore attracting daredevils from near and far. Over 25 feet of fresh powder fall from the sky onto Copper Mountain each year. One of the coolest attributes about this ski resort is their year round camp they offer, Camp Woodward. Kids of all ages attend to advance their athletic skills and all around well being.
Copper Mountain is a great destination for all types of vacations. Bring your family here for Christmas this year, make the trip with your buddies for a bachelor party, or have a romantic getaway with your plus one.
