The USA Pro Cycling Challenge is an internationally recognized cycling race held every year. It is known as America’s Race and has been held since 2011 in Colorado. The racers reach soaring altitudes of over 12,000 feet throughout the beautiful Rocky Mountains. This year this race takes place from August 19th-25th. These professional riders come from all over the world to compete on this challenging course, which poses an incredible 42,000 feet of vertical climbing and fast descents. Here’s a summary from your favorite mountain shuttle company.

Stage 1: Aspen/Snowmass

This stage will be a circuit race of 68 miles going through the small towns of Aspen and Snowmass. Usually a bustling ski town in the winter, during the summer and fall times the mountains are lively with outdoor activities and fun for the whole family. This stage begins at 1:05 p.m. on August 19th.

Stage 2: Aspen-Breckenridge

During this stage, riders will climb massive peaks including Independence Pass leading them through Buena Vista and on to the town of Breckenridge. Riders will peddle a total of 126 miles on August 20th starting at 10:10 a.m. reaching an elevation of 12,250 feet.

Stage 3: Breckenridge-Steamboat Springs

During stage 3, riders will ride north from Breckenridge to Steamboat Springs. This starts at 12:10pm on August 21st for a total of 105 miles. This stage will test the sprinters speed with the relatively short amount of climbing.

Stage 4: Steamboats Springs-Beaver Creek

Stage 4 takes riders from Steamboat and on to Beaver Creek for a distance of 102 miles on August 22nd starting at 11:00AM. Here they will reach an altitude of 11,627 feet. During this stage, the grade will reach pitches of about 18%.

Stage 5: Vail

This stage will be a time trial of 10 miles starting at 1:05PM on August 23rd. This will start in the town of Vail and make its way up through the Vail Pass.

Stage 6: Loveland-Fort Collins

At this stage, the riders will make their way down the mountains and in to Fort Collins for a ride of 115 miles starting at 11:35AM on August 24th. This will be one of the biggest moves for the riders coming off the mountain passes and preparing for the flat race the next day in Denver.

Stage 7: Denver

The final stage in Denver consists of a 72 mile route beginning at 12:55pm on August 25th. This is the speed stage with last minute and daring moves and excellent finishes. There is no bad viewing spot for this race in Denver so come out and watch the exciting and impressive last stage of the USA Pro Challenge.
