The town of Breckenridge is known for its world class skiing, gold medal fishing and endless hiking trails. When planning your winter vacation for this upcoming 2015/2016 season, you will not want to miss out on some of the awesome events held by the town of Breckenridge. On December the 4th there will be two awesome events taking place in Breckenridge, the first being the annual Lighting of Breckenridge and the second being the fan favorite Race of the Santas on Main Street.
The Lighting of Breckenridge is an annual event held every December where the town gathers to watch our sleepy little victorian town turn into a postcard perfect holiday scene. The town glows with holiday lights, garland, wreaths and smells of rich hot cocoa and warm cookies. To kick off the event, join us at the Blue River Plaza for caroling, hot chocolate and warm cookies. Following the caroling on Main St. and the Blue River Plaza, head up to The Dredge at 4 P.M. to watch the Annual Race of the Santas and witness hundreds of Santas running, skipping and jogging to the finish line. For those looking to do some shopping head over to the arts district for some awesome artisan holiday gifts for under $50. You can purchase anything from ceramics to paintings to jewelry that make excellent gifts for members of the office and loved ones alike.
The true event takes place at 5:15 P.M. at the Blue River Plaza with the lighting of the town’s holiday tree. Before calling it a night and heading back to the hotel stop to take a picture with Santa in a true winter wonderland. Santa will be taking photos from 5:30 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Barney Ford Museum, 111 E. Washington Ave. Have a great holiday season and don’t miss out on this year’s epic snow conditions!
