With the snows of winter almost gone and the ski slopes turning green, it’s summertime in the mountains once again. Featured at the mountain resorts of Breckenridge, Vail, and Heavenly, Epic Discovery is an unforgettable family summer mountain experience. With an abundance of adventures and activities, Epic Discovery in Vail promises thrills and excitement for all ages. Vail Mountain rises from a base elevation of 8,120 feet to 11,570, giving a prominence of 3,450 feet. Vail was founded by members of the 10th Mountain Division after World War II in 1962 and has since grown to become the largest ski area in North America. The Vail Valley sits in the shadows of the Gore Range in the White River National Forest.

Activities at Epic Discovery in Vail

Epic Discovery in the Vail is located on the mountain at the Eagle’s Nest, which is accessible via Gondola One. Epic Discovery in Vail is sure to provide experiences that will last a lifetime for the whole family. Activities at Vail’s Epic Discovery include a scenic gondola ride, various zipline tours and activities for adults and children, adventure courses, a tubing hill, a climbing wall, a bungee trampoline, the Forest Flyer Mountain Coaster, mountain top 4×4 tours, mini-golf and more. Prices for passes range from $94-$199 for adults and $54 for children. Discounts are available for EPIC pass holders.  

Zipline

The Game Creek Zipline Tour offered at Epic Discovery is nearly 2 miles long and spans over 3-4 hours. There are seven ziplines along with other aerial features. Participants must be at least 10 years old and weigh between 75-250 lbs. There is also a 200 foot “Little Eagle” zipline with a minimum weight of 30lbs for the little adventurers.  Challenge courses at Vail include the Holy Cross & Gore Range adventure courses, which are sure to test your strength and balance. There is also a kids-friendly “Pine Cone” adventure course with smaller and easier to navigate features.  

Tubing

Epic Discovery summer tubing provides thrilling runs for young and old, with the Eagle’s Nest Tubing Hill over 550 feet long. Check out the Marmot Mini-Tubing hill for a multi-lane kids-friendly hill. Also check out the Paramount Peak Climbing Wall, featuring an auto belay system for 4 different routes of varying difficulty. Test your jumping abilities and flip into the sky with the bungee trampoline, or test your short-range game and challenge your friends/family in a game of mini-golf. There is also the Forest Flyer Mountain Coaster where you can control your own speed as you wind your way 3,400 feet down the mountain.

4×4 Tours

If you’re looking to get on the trail, Epic Discovery at Vail offers mountain top 4×4 tours in an open-air all terrain vehicle where you will get unspoiled views of Vail’s legendary back bowls and as well as the Gore Range and the Mount of the Holy Cross. There are also Guided Hiking opportunities and mountain biking clinics that explore Vail’s network of trails through the White River National Forest.
