Colorado ChristmasBooking a ski/snowboard trip with family or friends is a very exciting moment! You know that there will be plenty of time spent on the mountain during the day, but there are always the questions of how the nightlife is, if there are enough restaurants to satisfy you, and what events will be occurring in the town or surrounding areas during your trip? Your favorite mountain shuttle company knows Summit County has a lot to offer, especially during this time of year!

December 1:

Lighting of Breck (Breckenridge): There are activities throughout the afternoon, including the Santa race and kids reindeer run. The race is followed by free hot cocoa and cookies and the tree lighting and caroling in the Blue River Plaza. It is sure to be a fun, entertaining afternoon, and really, who wouldn’t want to see people dressed up as Santa to run a race?!

December 7-9:

Copper turns 40! (Copper Mountain) Tons of ski and snowboard specials on lift tickets, rentals and more. As part of the Anniversary Weekend, Copper will also be holding the Groovy Chase Snowshoe Race. So pick out your favorite 70’s clothes, come on down, and relax to a Neil Diamond tribute band!

December 7-9:

North Face Park & Pipe Open (Copper Mountain): Amateurs and professional skiers compete side by side in slopestyle, rail jam, halfpipe and big air in this unique competition set to coincide with Copper’s 40-year anniversary.

December 8-16:

Wassail Days (Frisco): Merchants on Main St. compete to create the best wassail (English cider) recipe.  Stroll up and down Main St enjoying the holiday decorations and taste them all.  The Frisco Adventure Park gets into the spirit on the 13th with free snow tubing and more.

Breckenridge Colorado Events

December 7-9:

Breck Arts Weekend (Breckenridge): The arts weekend consists of three days of open art shows, live music, workshops, and historic tours.

December 7-14:

Snowflake Challenge (Breckenridge): The Snowflake Challenge is a week-long snow art event. Teams compete to create the most unique and zany scultures and the completed pieces remain up through the holidays.

December 8:

Santa Dash for Cash (Frisco): Dash down 7 blocks of Main Street in a Santa costume, then take home a Santa Dash t- shirt, Santa hat, and half off a tubing session at the Frisco Adventure Park. The proceeds go to several charities throughout Summit County. Kids 12 and under can participate for free!

December 8:

Tree Lighting (Frisco): Enjoy this fun family event at the  Historic Park Gazebo and take pictures with the kids at Santa’s sled.

December 8:

Best in the West Chili Cook-Off (Frisco): taste chili and vote for your favorite! There are 3 categories: red, green, and vegetarian.

December 13-16:

Breckenridge Dew TourThe Dew Tour (Breckenridge): A variety of events, ranging from men and women’s ski and snowboard contests to activities in the town and film nights at the Riverwalk Center. The event is very enjoyable and is televised on NBC and NBC Sports! The Dew Tour is free to attend and should not be missed.

December 24:

En Fuego(Copper Mountain): A snowcat parade down the mountain plus fireworks and a bonfire.  A professional photographer will also be on hand for family photos.

December 31:

New Year’s Eve fireworks (multiple locations throughout the county): Go with your friends and family after a great day of skiing or snowboarding!

 

No matter where you are staying in Summit County you won’t be disappointed or bored. There are events throughout the month in all different locations!
