5 Things to Pack on Your Holiday Trip to Colorado

If you’re traveling to Breckenridge or anywhere in Colorado on your next vacation, there are definitely some important things to know about, such as weather and elevation. To help you be better prepared for our environment, here are 5 things to pack on your holiday trip to Colorado from us at Peak 1 Express.

Water

This may be one of the most important things to remember. Much of Colorado is at a significantly higher elevation than most are accustomed to and this can lead from mild to severe altitude sickness. The best way to prevent altitude sickness is to drink LOTS and LOTS of water.

Clothing

When packing for you Colorado vacation, consider several types of clothing than can be easily layered. Let’s just say Colorado weather reports are not always the most accurate, so if you dress in layers you will be prepared for just about everything!

Boots

Many people from warmer climates still wear boots in the winter at home, but it’s important to know that many of those styles of boots won’t cut it in a Colorado winter. You can be certain that your cute cotton booties will leave your feet wet and cold after just a few minutes. So, be sure to have boots that are tough enough to keep your feet warm and dry in all conditions.

Sun Screen

Given that much of Colorado is at a higher elevation, like we mentioned before, it is important to consider how much closer to the sun you will be. With 300 days of sunshine on average, sunscreen is an item you do not want to forget.

Lotion

Colorado’s climate is extremely dry and many visitors suffer a bit from dry cracked skin. Think ahead and bring a bottle of your favorite lotion and you will be ready to explore all that this beautiful state has to offer.

These items are some of the most important things many may not think of when planning their Colorado vacation. Be sure to stock your suitcase with these suggestions and you will be prepared for  anything on your dream vacation.
