Don’t have any plans for Thanksgiving, why not come spend your Turkey Day in the beautiful snowy mountains?! Whether you bring the whole family or just come solo and hang with the locals, there is no better place to feast on turkey and celebrate one of the best holidays than in the mountains of Breckenridge. Check out these 5 reasons why you should spend your Turkey Day in the mountains with us at Peak 1 Express

Opening Day

download (19)Come get first chair! While A Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge and Copper Mountain  have already opened, Vail and Beaver Creek’s opening  days are right around the corner.  Spend all morning slashing some fresh snow, then wind down enjoying the company  of friends and  family while munching on some turkey. After you’ve eaten your fill and  taken a dip in the hot tub, make your way to a cozy couch to fall into  a nice  Thanksgiving food coma.

Mi Casa Thanksgiving Dinner

Feel like riding the slopes more than slaving in the kitchen over a turkey, or maybe money is just tight this year. Whatever the reason is, Mi  Casa’s Thanksgiving dinner is your perfect opportunity to save some time and skip the cooking. This is a free dinner, set up at Mi Casa on  Park Avenue in Breckenridge. Supported and organized by St. John’s Episcopal Church, Father Dyer United Methodist Church and the Breckenridge restaurant community, there is sure to be plenty of food around for all. If you’re feeling in the spirit of giving you can also volunteer!

Shopping!main_street_600px

We all know about one of the BEST shopping days of the year…. Black Friday! Mountain towns are known for the cozy mom and pop shops, but don’t be fooled, you can save on just as much in these shops as anywhere else. Keep in mind most of these certain shops have items you can’t get anywhere else! Silverthorne also has great outlets for other shopping! Shop till ya drop friends!

New terrain!

dinnerSkiers and snowboarders unite for the opening of new terrain! The new snowfall everyday adds more and more runs to the mountains. With so much skiable acreage in both Eagle and Summit County, there is much to explore. If you didn’t get a chance to ride Breckenridge’s Peak 6 after opening day last year this is your opportunity! Also, don’t forget to check out Vail! With the most skiable terrain in Colorado it would take even the best shredder the whole day to see it all! Starting Thanksgiving, I challenge you to see how long it will take to conquer Vail.

Dine out

Why not treat yourself? How about a five course meal? Not feeling that? Maybe a little bit more of a homey vibe? Either way leave it to any mountain restaurant to WOW you with excellent service, convenience, and great food!
