Yes, this summer may feel a bit different than others in the past. We are all make sacrifices so that we can soon get back to enjoying music, town events, and all of the other things that we enjoy amongst our communities. In Summit County, this is no different. Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, Blue River, and Silverthorne all make up the incredible Rocky Mountain county of Summit County and while the global pandemic has created a summer that feels a bit foreign compared to those of the past, the county has made adjustments to ensure its a summer full of enjoyment and incredible memories.

Main Streets have been closed to the traffic, restaurants have moved their tables outside, live music is heard throughout town, town events have adjusted their plans in order to continue on, and so much more is still happening in this summer in this little place of heaven located what seems like high above the clouds in the Rocky Mountains.

Take to the Streets

Breckenridge and Frisco both have made it so their Main Streets are closed to traffic and pedestrian only. In order to help maintain safe physical distances between everyone the downtown areas are clear of traffic and are as enjoyable as ever! Retail stores have moved much of their inventory outdoors and restaurants have created outdoor seating areas. This truly creates an incredible community astmosphere all while keeping groups safely distant from other households. When we prevent the virus from spreading in Summit County, we keep businesses open and the summer rolling on!

Dillon Farmers Market

Located beside picturesque Lake Dillon, the Dillon Farmers market is a must see event in Summit County! Local vendors bring their best fresh honey, fruits, arts, and plenty more each Friday from 9AM-2PM. While there won’t be any live music this year and the amount of vendors is cut down from about 126 to 60, vendors will still be there ready to offer their incredible goods.

Free Music by the Blue River

There’s nothing like live music, and Breckenridge is the place to find it. Located next to the Blue River, the Riverwalk Center’s lawn plays host to free live music performances throughout the summer. The expansive grass lawn and gorgeous views of Breckenridge’s ski resort is the perfect place to kick back and soak in the sounds of a variety of artists with your friends and family. The best part is, you’ll have plenty of space to stay a safe distance from other patrons as there it is all done outside!

When we all do our part to maintain the health and safety for ourselves and others, we keep town open and the summer rolling on! Summit County has laid out several things everyone can do to help. Everyone should maintain 6 feet of physical distance between other groups. It’s required to wear masks in public. It’s also incredibly important to wash our hands as often as possible and to STAY HOME IF YOU ARE FEELING SICK AT ALL! These are just small and easy things to do but incredibly important if we want to continue having fun at our favorite stores, restaurants, and town events.

The show goes on here in the Rockies, come on out to Summit County for some epic summer fun!
