It’s that time of year again where everyone starts to check the weather report more and more in hopes that there will be snow in the near future. In Summit County the summer rain has succeeded to snowfall which is starting to stick on the peaks. The cold weather has also allowed resorts such as Loveland and Arapahoe Basin to make artificial snow in hopes to become the first Colorado ski resort to open the 2013-2014 season. Just yesterday Arapahoe Basin opened for the ski season and will continue to turn lifts until next spring.

This morning, towns around Colorado awoke to a nice fresh dusting of snow on the roads that will continue to gather snow throughout the week. Temperatures are becomingsnow mountain web colder and colder allowing the snow to stay put and paving the way for the winter months. There has already been a decent amount of snowfall before many of the resorts open which is a good sign of things to come during the ski season.

There is snow in the forecast throughout this week and into the next with only a few days of sunshine. Hopefully the snow will stick causing the ski runs to remain cold allowing the resorts to blow snow all day and all night in preparation for the thousands of skier visits expected to come during the opening month of November. Thanksgiving is looking to be like a snowy one, so come and enjoy the festivities surrounding Summit County and its many ski resorts like Breckenridge. Remember, Peak 1 Express opens for full operations November 15th, so take full advantage of the early season deals.
