October is a busy time in the mountains. There are festivals going on all month, the leaves are changing into magnificent colors, and there is a certain buzz in the air with ski season just around the corner.

With so much to do and great deals on lodging, October is the perfect time for a getaway to the cool, crisp air of the mountains. Here is a list of just a few of the events happening this month.

  • Denver Oktoberfest: October 4th-6th – Join the fun at what USA Today calls “The Best Oktoberfest” in the United States. Take part in contests such as keg bowling, bratwurst eating contests, stein hoisting competitions, or the Long Dog Derby, a wiener dog race. Enjoy traditional German food, beer and music in the streets of downtown Denver.
  • Great American Beer Festival: October 10th-12th – Witness the largest collection of U.S. beer ever served in a public tasting event along with a private competition. 
  • Wine in the Pines: October 18th– 19th – Keystone hosts the 30th annual international wine and gourmet food tasting event. There is live entertainment, a silent auction, and nearly 500 wines and some of Keystone’s most elegant cuisines and desserts.

  • Ski Season!!!: Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Ski Resorts(right)  race to see who can have the earliest opening day once again. Both have started making snow in preparations for the upcoming season with estimated opening dates in late October. Keystone and Copper Mountain both open on November 1st, quickly followed by Breckenridge Ski Resort on November 8th.

Peak 1 Express is gearing up for operations which kick-off November 15th, but we still offer shuttle service around the county at an hourly rate or to and from the airport as a charter. Make sure to visit this October and remember to book early for the upcoming season!
