It’s that time of year again! Ullr Fest has begun and is celebrating its 50th year.  The quirky annual event is named for the Norse god of snow and brings a week of goofy entertainment to the town of Breckenridge.  On Sunday night, Dave and Cindy Love were crowned king and queen of Ullr Fest, and on Monday night a new event was added to the mix – Family Night at the Gold Run Nordic Center provided a range of activities including skating and snowshoeing in addition to Nordic skiing, and a bonfire rounded out the festivities.  But the rest of the week is when things start to get wild!

Tonight, the Ullympics will give competitors a chance to go for gold in the frying pan toss, ski boot relay, and other hilarious and bizarre events.

Wednesday, Cecilia’s and and KSMT host the Ullr Dating Game, the ultimate Breckenridge dating game.

Thursday brings the biggest event of the week: the Ullr Parade.  12,000 spectators turn out to enjoy the wacky array of floats from hot tubs to school buses to ski jumps (and plenty of vikings!) that make their way down Main Street, Breckenridge.  A fireworks display and bonfire round out the evening.

Friday is Ullr Comedy Night.  Comedians Mark Ryan and Troy Walker bring their skills to Beaver Run Resort with proceeds benefitting the Carriage House Early Learning Center.

Saturday, head to the Gold Run Nordic Center for the Ullr Classic, a 3v3 pond hockey tournament.  This is the inaugural year for the Ullr Classic.

Sunday rounds out the week with the Ullr Fashion Show at the Park Avenue Pub.  The costume contest (viking-themed, of course) will be supplemented by drink specials and giveaways.

Whether you can only make it for a couple days or you’re already booked an entire week in Breckenridge, Ullr Fest is a can’t-miss event.  Peak 1 Express is ready to shuttle you to your Breckenridge destination, and once you’re here, don’t forget to take advantage of our hourly service to get around town!
