A famous statement made by many of those who have moved to Summit County is “I came for the winter but stayed for the summer”. So what makes our gorgeous home so amazing during the summer season? Here are the 20 must see events in Summit County during the summer. All of these events are accessible using Summit Counties free public transportation, the Summit Stage; which means no drinking and driving!

  1. Opening Day for Whitewater Rafting with AVA – Enjoy a thrilling half day, full day, or overnight rafting trip at one of AVA’s 3 paddle-boarding-stock-300x200stunning rafting outposts surrounding the Summit County Area Beginning May 1st!
  2. The 13th Annual Festival of the Brewpubs – Sample beer from 10 different breweries at Arapahoe Basin to celebrate Memorial Day. May 25th.
  3. Closing Day at Arapahoe Basin – Enjoy your day at “the beach”; A-Basin’s famous party spot complete with picnic areas, live music, crazy costumes, and an unending amount of libations. Date to be determined.
  4. Frisco Marina’s Opening Day Rockin’ Dock Party– Enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, sail boating, and more at Frisco Marina on Lake Dillon along with live entertainment on the dock to celebrate the 2014 season. May 31st.
  5. 21st Colorado BBQ Challenge in Frisco – Chef demonstrations, whiskey tours, pig races, and an extreme amount of DELICIOUS AVA-Rafting-airbornebarbecue! How can it get any better? June 12th – 14th.
  6. The Gold Runner Coaster Opening Day! – An alpine coaster that brings you on an electrifying adventure through hairpin curves and sharp twists while speeding through our beautiful forest landscape. Opens June 14th. in Breckenridge.
  7. Frisco’s Concert in the Park Series Begins – Begin enjoying Frisco’s free concert series featuring popular up and coming artists and bands. Refreshments are available for purchase and benefit local nonprofit organizations. June 19th.
  8. The Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour at Keystone – A festival dedicated completely to BACON, and all its’ amazing uses. A great event for the whole family The Bacon Tour will be at Keystone June 21st & 22nd.

Independence Day in Breckenridge – Free family activities, live music, a parade down Main St., a patriotic concert performed by Jimmy-buffet-frisco-1-1024x677National Repertory Orchestra, all finishing up with an amazing firework show at the Riverwalk Center. 4th of July in Breck is true celebration of American independence. July 4th.
  10. Frisco’s Founders Day Celebration – Learn about Frisco’s heritage in gold mining with live music and entertainment located at Frisco’s Historic Park. July 5th.
  11. The 26th Annual Triple Bypass – This amazingly daunting bike ride goes between Evergreen and Avon; going over Juniper Pass, Vail Pass, and Loveland Pass! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t think you can do it all though; relay teams of 3 with each person riding one pass are allowed. July 12th & 13th.
  12. Breckenridge Main Street Art Festival – Over 100 artists will be exhibiting their work ranging from pottery to woodworking to sculpture! July 25th – 27thfamily-biking
  13. The 18th Annual Bluegrass & Beer Festival 2014 – Enjoy amazing live bluegrass music along with delicious craft brews at Keystone’s River Run Village. August 2nd &3rd.  
  14. Dillon Open Regatta – Come and watch or participate in the world’s highest regatta at 9,017 ft above sea level on beautiful Lake Dillon. August 2nd & 3rd.
  15. The Krystal 93 BBQ in Dillon– Enjoy incredible mouthwatering barbecue, live entertainment, award- winning brews, and activities for the whole family! August 8th and 9th.

  17. The 2014 USA Pro Challenge – Breckenridge will host the most elite professional bicyclists from throughout the world for the 5th stage of the USA Pro Challenge on Friday August 22nd.
  18. 2014 Copper Country – This annual country music festival is free for everyone, and features well known country acts like Vince Gill and The Doobie Brothers along with local performers. August 29th-31st.
  19. Breckenridge Oktoberfest – The largest Oktoberfest of the Rocky Mountains this 3 day party has events for the whole family. Two dozen food vendors, lots of dancing, children’s activities, a keg-tapping ceremony, and more make this event one not to be missed! September 12th – 14th.
  20. 31st Annual Wine in the Pines – Founded by locals Mike and Margaret Smith, owners of Dillon Ridge Liquors, this event raises money to provide opportunities and needed assistance for people with cerebral palsy, like the founders’ daughter, Kelly. Held on October 17th &18th.
