Springtime in Colorado brings warmer temperatures, great skiing, and folks ready to get out and enjoy all of Colorado’s summer activities. The old saying “people move to Colorado for the winter and stay for the summer” comes to mind. A great way to celebrate the incoming summer and have one last hurrah for the winter goes on every year in Vail at the Spring Back to Vail celebration!

Starting on Friday, April 14 and ending on April 16, this event hosted by Vail Resorts has a ton of different activities for all ages. This will be the thirteenth year of the event and looking to be a great one! Activities include free concerts, great food and drinks, giveaways, the World Pond Skimming Championships, and plenty of other activities!

The first event will be a free concert and will be taking place at the Vail Village on April 14th. All weekend the “Triple R Rewards” will be taking place as well. Various Vail and Lionshead businesses will offer great deals promoting restaurants, retail, and relaxation. Be sure to look for the “Triple R Rewards” sticker in various windows at the participating businesses! Another great event is the “Tikis and Tunes Luau” this Hawaiian themed event takes place from 12PM-3PM at Sarge’s located at Mid-Vail. The event includes a Pig Roast, Drink Specials, Live Music, and plenty of giveaways. This is a great spot to kick back, soak up some sun, listen to some tunes and hang out on the patio with some friends! If you’re more of the competitive type the Bud Light Bags Tournament takes place at the same time at Mid-Vail with the finals taking place on Sunday at Golden Peak.

One even that you do not want to miss is the World Pond Skimming Championships at Golden Peak on Sunday, April 16th. If you’re not familiar with pond skimming it is when a pit is dug into the snow, filled with water and skiers or snowboarders fly down the mountain, hit a jump, and try to skim across the water to the other end back to land. It’s a lot harder than it looks! The venue opens with a BBQ at 1PM and the event starts at 3PM. If you’re up for it be sure to enter and compete yourself! Registration opens on March 15th.

Now that you know of a few of the events taking place be sure to not miss this great event! If you need transportation to Vail be sure to give us a call at Peak 1 Express!

Cheers!
