The air is cooling off and much of the Rocky Mountains have already experienced their first snowfall. Summer events are over and fall events are coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean it’s about to slow down. Some of the best events are still a few months off, and here are our favorite winter events:

    1. Dew Tour | Breckenridge

      sage_kotsenburg_mens_snb_ss_finals_121811-1The Dew Tour will once again be coming to Breckenridge on December 8 – 11. Welcome back some of the world’s best athletes competing in superpipe and slopestyle events for both snowboarding and freeskiing. Don’t miss the streetstyle event, showcasing the snowboarding worlds best urban talent on a collection of street features under the lights on Washington Street.

    2. Ullr Fest | Breckenridge 

      One of Breckenridge’s most notorious events, Ullr Fest will celebrate its 54th year this coming January 11 – 14. The Viking-themed celebration focuses on Ullr, the Norse god of winter and snow. Participate in the world record longest shot ski, the amazing Ullr parade with spectacular floats followed by a massive bonfire and more. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this one.

    3. Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships | Breckenridge

      Breckenridge Snow Sculpture ChampionshipsCheck out some of the snow sculptures by artists from around the world. Sculpting will begin January 24 through 28, with the viewing and judging from January 28 – February 5. Now in its 26th year, the Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships will once again bring some of the best ice sculptures to Breckenridge.

    4. Winterfest | Beaver Creek

      Celebrate the holiday season with performances, activities, WinterFest characters, parades, contests, holiday lights and more! Mark your calendar for December 17 – 31. Activities occur each day on the Village Plaza during après ski hours. All WinterFest activities are free and fun for “kids” of all ages!

    5. Audi Birds of Prey World Cup | Beaver Creek

      Men+Giant+Slalom+FIS+Skiing+World+Cup+KzRizv9hGWulThis year’s Audi Birds of Prey World Cup will be on December 1 – 4 at Beaver Creek Mountain. The race week will be supported by a lineup of beer tastings, concerts, movies, fireworks and more. As the only stop for the men’s World Cup in the United States, the Birds of Prey has evolved into one of the world’s premier ski events.

    6. Snow Daze | Vail

      Snow Daze is the largest early-season mountain bash in North America and will take place this year December 9 – 11. Enjoy fresh tracks on the mountain, the sponsor expo village, après parties and free live concerts by night. Check the website over the next couple of weeks for updates on the live music performers.

    7. CarniVAIL | Vail

      Jessie UnruhIMG_1506 (32)Celebrate Mardi Gras in Vail with New Orleans-style fun. This year’s event will take place on February 25th – 26th, 2017. Enjoy everything from a legendary crawfish boil to the Fat Tuesday Parade and the Street Festival. The celebration will be the best of the high county, with Cajun Après, After-Dark parties, contests, prizes, giveaways and more.

    8. Burton US Open | Vail

      Coming this February 27 – March 5, 2017, the 34th Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships will bring the world’s best to Vail competing for the title in Halfpipe and Slopestyle. The Burton US Open is the longest-running snowboarding competition, having started in 1982, and draws the best riders worldwide going for the coveted US Open title. The competition includes Olympic-level slopestyle and halfpipe snowboarding competitions in Golden Peak by day, and free live concerts from headliner acts and more by night.

    9. Spring Back to Vail | Vail

      adventure-ridge-vailWelcome the warmer weather of spring in the Rockies with incredible skiing conditions, cookouts and some awesome events. The annual spring bash, Spring Back to Vail, takes place April 14 – 16, 2017 and celebrates the end of winter. Enjoy a fun-filled weekend of events, including the World Pond Skimming Championships, live music, sponsor Expo Village, aprés parties, giveaways, and more.

    10. Kidtopia Mountaintop Spectacular | Keystone

      New this year, the Kidtopia Mountaintop Spectacular at Keystone Resort will be a fun-filled weekend of activities for the entire family. The event will take place on December 16 – 18 around Keystone. Kidtopia will showcase a variety of activities and programs, including firework displays, a torchlight ski parade and a mountaintop celebration with free snow tubing, snow cat photo opps, live music, hot cocoa and fireside stories with Santa.
